In the late afternoon of Jan. 13, the Whitesboro Fire Department responded to a call for a structure fire at a residence on Pecan Street. In addition to battling the house fire, first responders and city workers also worked to remove an aggressive 150-pound King Corso dog who was chained in the back yard of the emblazoned house. After breaking two catch pulls, the dog finally had to be sedated by a tranquilizer dart so fire crews could safely proceed. The dog was taken into custody and handed over to a rescue.

Whitesboro and Collinsville Fire Departments worked to battle the fire, which could be seen in the attic. While everyone inside was able to escape, the house was deemed a total loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The following night, on Jan. 14 at approximately 11:24 p.m., the Collinsville Fire Department responded to a reported commercial structure fire in the 1800 block of Hwy. 377 in Collinsville.

Chief 700, Engine 71, Tender 71 and Battalion 71 responded to the incident. Upon arrival, first-arriving units determined the fire involved a roll-off dumpster located adjacent to the structure.

Fire crews immediately initiated suppression operations, successfully controlling the fire and bringing it under control in a timely manner with no damage to the nearby structures.

No injuries were reported as a result of this incident.
