The Whitesboro High School Student Council had a busy and productive December. They kicked off the month by partnering with FBLA for the annual canned food drive that supports the Whitesboro Ministerial Alliance Holiday Food Basket Drive. The drive ended on Dec. 10 and 459 items were donated by students and families. Students that donated items earned a pajama day on Dec. 15.
On Dec. 3, 29 Student Council members attended the Dallas Mavericks Leadership Day for Texas Student Councils.
The council held a Toys For Tots toy drive that started at the beginning of the month. The annual Family Movie Night (hosted by Student Council and FCCLA) was held at Bearcat Stadium on Dec. 8. Entry to the movie was either a new toy or cash donation to Toys For Tots, and proceeds from concessions also went to the cause. As a result, a total of 39 toys and $201.65 were donated to Toys For Tots care of the Whitesboro Fire Department.
On Dec. 9, as a result of the work of the council members throughout the fall semester, the Student Council was able to shop for two Christmas Angels.
Ten Student Council members and their advisor were able to attend the Texas Association of Student Councils District 3 Overnighter Conference from Dec. 12-13. One of Whitesboro’s students served as a junior counselor at the event.
The council wrapped up the semester by recognizing school staff with a gift card drawing and a hot chocolate bar.
Congratulations to the Whitesboro High School Student Council on all of their hard work and accomplishments during the first half of the school year.
