This holiday season, a joint effort between the Whitesboro Ministerial Alliance (WMA) and the Whitesboro Fire Department (WFD) resulted in the distribution of food baskets and toys to local families in need.
The Holiday Food Basket Drive has been going on since the early 1970s. Families apply for a food basket and gifts for their children through the Ministerial Alliance. The churches work hand in hand with the Whitesboro schools to collect the canned goods that are given away.
The WMA purchases a ham, potatoes, fruit and staple goods (flour, sugar, beans, rice, etc.) for each family.
The WFD provides toys for all school-aged children in the families receiving food baskets.
“This is a wonderful example of life in Whitesboro,” Brother Mike Flanagan of the WMA said. “It is always good to see how God uses all of us to come together to meet needs in our community.”
