Two Whitesboro men were recognized on the President’s Honor Roll at Midwestern State University for the Fall 2025 semester.

A student who completes 12 hours in one semester with no grade lower than A (4.0) will be included on the President’s Honor Roll. The student cannot have semester grades of I, WF or NC.

Blake Parker, accounting major, and Erik Wagner Rohwedder de Resende, finance major, were both named among 403 students on this semester’s President’s Honor Roll.

Meanwhile, Gunter woman Shaelyn Pruiett was recognized by California State University, Stanislaus Stanislaus for her outstanding academic achievements, earning her a place on the Spring 2025 Dean’s List. This prestigious honor is awarded to students who have demonstrated superior academic performance by maintaining a grade point average of 3.5 or higher during the semester.

The Dean’s List reflects students’ sustained focus, academic discipline and commitment to excellence. These high-achieving students demonstrate perseverance and intellectual curiosity as they continue to strengthen their skills, expand their academic interests and position themselves for future opportunities. Their accomplishments reflect not only individual success, but also a readiness to contribute meaningfully, both within their chosen fields and in the communities they will serve.

Lastly, at Lamar University, Keely Lynch of Gunter was recently elected to membership into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society.

Lynch is among approximately 20,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors are eligible for membership. Graduate students in the top 10 percent of the number of candidates for graduate degrees may also qualify, as do faculty, professional staff and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinction.

Phi Kappa Phi was founded in 1897 under the leadership of undergraduate student Marcus L. Urann who had a desire to create a different kind of honor society: one that recognized excellence in all academic disciplines. Today, the Society has chapters on more than 300 campuses in the United States and its territories. Its mission is to “cultivate a community that celebrates and advances the love of learning.”
