Anyone interested in running as a local city council or school board candidate must file an application for a place on the ballot between Jan. 14 and Feb. 13. Applications can be obtained from city hall or school district administrations office.
For Whitesboro City Council, the two-year terms of Mike Pack and Ronnie Fielder are coming to a close. Additionally, the seat of David Bertino (recently appointed to complete the vacated seat of John Moore) will be up for election.
On the WISD school board, the seats of Austin Miles and Aaron Park are up for re-election as well as the expiring term of Michael Hinsley (currently held by Michael Parish, who was appointed to this spot when Hinsley vacated the seat last year).
For Collinsville City Council, the two-year terms of Jessica Orsburn and Brandon White will be up for re-election, as will the two appointed terms of Carl Lucas and Austin Lewter.
Although the details haven’t been confirmed as of press time, the CISD school board will have seats open for re-election. (Seats for Place 6 and Place 7 were elected last year.)
In Southmayd, three alderman seats are up for re-election this year. (Like Whitesboro, Southmayd doesn’t have specific Place seats). At S&S CISD, it appears that seats for Place 1, 3 and 4 are up for re-election.
Early voting in Grayson County will begin Monday, April 20 and will end Tuesday, April 28.
Local elections for all local city council and school board races will be held on May 2, 2026 from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.
