Funny how the calendar plays tricks on you, especially the older you get.
Back when, the weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas seemed endless in a house with kids.
Now?
I still haven’t figured out where all those dishes came from nor how to get them back where they belong!
So with Santa lining up the reindeer for next week’s dash toward chimneys around the world - does he still do that? - I haven’t felt that holiday glow yet.
The uncertainty, the anxiety, the millions of people’s lives in jeopardy weighs heavily on my heart.
The crux of the matter is: with DJT#47 still perched on his throne, I am faced with the inflationary problem of upgrading this column.
Mentioned earlier this year, soon no one will have any cents to play with. DJT#47 has halted production of pennies by the Treasury.
Banks and businesses are already rounding up, so the grocery bill goes up another notch.
This is just an outlier for the inflation that has hit this country. People’s lives are much more affected than a column name. And it’s getting worse daily.
When counting their pennies at home, readers should consider the importance of voting.
Voting en masse – that means all of you and as soon as possible – because the upcoming March primaries are a bellweather of what’s ahead.
Do you want this to keep on keeping on? Or are you ready to jump ship and try to right the boat?
Not the boat the Department of War decided to bomb out of the ocean recently.
I’m talking about the American Ship of State that is really listing to starboard.
That’s the right side of a vessel pointing forward; politically speaking it’s also the side now in power in these United States.
The port side lies in the hands of the Democrats, which DJT#47 keeps blaming for the nation’s ills.
He never could add very well, with six bankruptcies on his tally sheet. It’s the GOP poll numbers that are sliding off the chart, no matter how loud he screams “no fair” as he pardons another duly convicted felon.
The only way to change the direction of the looming dictatorship is to replace the dictator.
And to have senators impeach him in Congress, but these spineless representatives lack the character to do the right thing. So far anyway.
So it’s up to voters to replace his hand-selected minions with our choices. Yes, I do mean voting the GOP out of their cozy seats in the Legislature and in Congress.
What have they done for you lately, anyway? Please don’t think they are voting your values!
They’ve killed your health care. Shot the education system out of this universe.
Endangered women’s lives by practicing medicine they’re untrained for and destroyed 50 years of vaccine science.
Maimed American prestige around the world.
Wounded the financial markets but elevated millionaires up to billionaire status by creating bitcoins out in Texas’ Big Country and pumping the aquifers down to dust.
Who did I forget?
Families of every religious persuasion, yeah, those too. Our Constitutional separation of church and state bit the dust.
All because of a majority of three legislators in all federal and state houses are scared silly to vote against a man with an inflated ego who wants control of everything.
So far he has succeeded, just as he promised in his 2025 rallies but lied about.
What conscience?
The first step to regain control of our Republic and our democracy is to vote for new representatives you choose and stop rubber-stamping those who have been bought and paid for.
It’s up to ordinary citizens to regain control because the Supreme Court won’t step in to right the ship either.
The 6-3 “conservative” majority has already upended too many settled laws in DJT#47’s favor. The Rule of Law is already in danger because of Trump’s Supreme Court.
Voting conservatives OUT in the March primary is Step One.
Vote for a pig in lipstick if the idea of voting Dem is against your Daddy’s beliefs. Vote in someone on “the Port side”.
Just think of what the GOP has done TO you, not FOR you. Vote your conscience and think of your grandchildren when the environment implodes in another 20 years.
This administration has destroyed just about every basic tenet of American life – public schools, public radio, the arts and culture of the Smithsonian, orchestras, anywhere that #47 can plaster his name in gold paint.
Nepotism has always been anti-American but DJT#47 has more than quadrupled his net worth in a mere 11 months.
Fickle rich donors have lined up allegedly to “pay for the White House” fiasco but none have sent an IOU to the Treasury yet. Guess who’ll get that bill?
My belief in America has not wavered, nor my belief that a Higher Power is still in charge. I’m just hoping that in the coming months the voting public will prove that they believe in both – and start rowing to the port side to help turn this ship around.
Sending Christmas blessings to you all.
