Local emergency crews were busy Tuesday with two different fires— first in Collinsville and a second in Whitesboro.
A call went out about 10 a.m. Tuesday for response to a structure fire at 400 N. Neathery Ave. in Collinsville.
Upon arrival at the scene, fire crews discovered an outbuilding in the backyard of a residence completely involved.
The fire spread partially to a nearby house, where the Neil and Ashley Bringle family of Collinsville live. (Neil is the youth minister at Collinsville Church of Christ.) No one was home at the time of the incident.
Portions of the home were too heavily damaged to be occupied.
Collinsville firefighters received mutual aid from Whitesboro, Tioga and Indian Creek colleagues.
The family was displaced and are currently living with friends.
According to minister Scott Sides, a fund has been set up at the church to accept donations on the family’s behalf. For more information call 903-429-6313.
A GoFundMe account has also been set up to benefit the family. Look for details on Facebook.
Later Tuesday afternoon, crews responded to a structure fire at the Golden Chick restaurant at 1022 US Hwy 377 in Whitesboro.
A worker called in the incident when they noticed smoke and a smell “like wires burning.”
According to Whitesboro Public Safety Director Jeff Patterson, crews confirmed a fire within the building and went to work.
According to Patterson, the fire was contained quickly and the cause is currently being investigated by the Fire Marshall.
The Golden Chick restaurant will be closed while repairs are completed.
Whitesboro Fire Department received mutual aid from Collinsville and Sadler Fire Departments on the Golden Chick fire.
