The Whitesboro varsity boys wrestling team brought home a 2nd Place finish in the Bronco Bash, beating McKinney Boyd 42-26, McKinney North 54-14, Plano High 46-24, and RL Turner 48-14, losing to Plano East 57-21. The Whitesboro varsity girls wrestling team came home with 5th place.

Lady Pirates on a roll 
The Collinsville Lady Pirates are off to a red-hot start in 2025. 

They are 12-1 on the season and ranked among the top 10 in the state. 

They took first place over the weekend in the Celeste Tournament with wins over Howe (91-26), Leonard (59-23), Trenton (64-27) and Lone Oak (61-37). 

Other wins so far this season include Dodd City (53-38 on Dec. 2), Paradise (62-54 on Nov. 24) and Ponder (50-38 on Nov. 22). 

Their only loss of the year came at the hands of Bridgeport with a 50-38 final on Nov. 21. 

They opened the season with wins over Whitesboro, Celeste, Edgewood, Greenwood and Santo. 

The pollsters are taking notice and the Lady Pirates are included in this week’s Texas Girls’ Coaches Association 2A poll:

Bearcats named to All-District team 
The District 6-3A football superlatives were named on Monday with many Whitesboro Bearcats making the All-District team. 

At the top of the list was junior Colt Fagan who was named Utility Player of the Year.

First team honors went to senior Mason Scarbrough; juniors Korbin Ross and Shayne Gabbert; and sophomores Justin Knight and Ayce Nelson. 

Seniors Elijah Hines and Hayden Hendry were named 2nd Team All-District along with juniors Wyatt Winchester and Victor Chavez as well as sophomore Ian Bruce. 

Honorable Mention honors went to Axel Castillo, Camron Howard, Layne Espinosa, Scout Regealen, Jacob Collier, Jose Trevino and Noah Hall.

Pirates come up big at S&S
The Collinsville Pirate basketball team came out of the S&S Tournament 4-1 over the weekend. 

Their success was evident with a 52-25 mid-tourney win over the hosting S&S Rams. 

Chad Davidson and Ryder Robinson were named to the All-Tournament Team. 

Collinsville’s scheduled game against Gunter on Tuesday was cancelled as the Tigers are still in the football playoffs.

Lady Cats leave Sadler 3-1
The Whitesboro Lady Cat varsity basketball team ended the S&S tournament 3-1 over the weekend. 

They picked-up wins over Tioga (57-33), McKinney Christian (36-30) and Vernon (34-27). 

Their only tournament loss came to Aubrey with a 41-22 final. 

The JV Lady Cats  finished the tournament 0-4.

The Lady Cats were back home Tuesday to face Gunter. 

Results were not available as of press time.

Tioga 46, Whitesboro JV 13
The Tioga Lady Bulldog basketball team picked up a 46-13 win over Whitesboro JV last weekend in the S&S Tournament. 

Timber Johnson led the attack with 14 points, six steals and five assists.

Ella Norwood scored 12 points.

Reese Robinson had eight points.

Brennan Guenther offered five points and six rebounds.

Addyson Lange totaled four points, six rebounds and three assists.

Skilar Hodge had six assists for Tioga.

The win took Tioga to 4-8 on the year. 

Also in tournament play, Tioga fell 57-32 to Whitesboro’s varsity squad.

They opened the tournament with a 41-30 loss to Vernon.

Tioga hosted Santo Tuesday night. Results were not available as of press time.
