The spirit of the season is about to come alive in town as the Whitesboro Community Choir presents its annual Christmas concert—an evening filled with vibrant choral music, sparkling handbells, and live instrumental accompaniment from talented community musicians.

The concert begins at 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church (124 Center Street in Whitesboro), followed by a reception in the church’s Commons Area which is sponsored by GFWC History Club of Whitesboro, GFWC Lake Area Woman’s Club and House of Brews Coffee House of Whitesboro.

This year’s program promises a fresh, energetic blend of classic carols, jazz-inspired tune and stirring, lush arrangements of Christmas favorites. Audiences can expect everything from the joyful drive of Christmas All Over the World to the elegant beauty of The First Noel and the soulful energy of Hallelujah: A Soulful Celebration. The choir will also perform toe-tapping selections such as What Will Santa Claus Say, the lively Deck the Hall & Swing It, which will be performed by an ensemble, and the repertoire will be rounded out by the powerful and uplifting Angels We Have Heard on High.

Adding to the excitement, several local instrumentalists will join the choir throughout the evening, bringing even more color and energy to the music. A small rhythm section will set a jazz-infused groove for Deck the Hall & Swing It, while an instrumental ensemble supports What Will Santa Claus Say. A community concert band will join forces with the choir for a dynamic performance of Angels We Have Heard on High.

The concert also features the shimmering sound of the community handbell choir, directed by Linda Harris. The handbell choir will accompany the choir on Ring Out, Ye Bells and will perform two stand-alone selections of their own. Their appearance adds a magical layer to the holiday atmosphere—one that has quickly become a favorite tradition for audiences.

“Our goal is to offer more than just a concert—we want to create a musical experience that feels joyful, meaningful and truly shared,” Director Susie Meals said. “We’re proud to showcase live instrumentalists from right here in the community. These collaborations enrich the music in ways recordings simply can’t, and they remind us how much talent is living in and around our community.”

The choir also hopes the event will inspire others to get involved. The group is actively welcoming new singers and instrumentalists—whether they’re seasoned performers, people returning to music after years away or those simply looking for a creative, uplifting community to belong to.

Meals added, “If you’ve ever sung in a choir or played an instrument—even if it’s been a long time—we would love for you to consider joining us for our spring season. There is a place for you here.”

The concert is complimentary to the public. Families, friends and music lovers of all ages are invited to attend.

The choir is under the direction of Susie Meals, Jackie Mitchell and Brenda Warren; accompanied by pianist Marilyn Meals. Sponsors for the concert are: GFWC History Club of Whitesboro, GFWC Lake Area Woman’s Club, Holiday Auto Group, House of Brews Coffee House of Whitesboro, RJ Marketing Solutions, THR Painting and Remodeling and The Meals Team | EXP Realty.

Come celebrate the season with an evening of live music, community spirit and festive joy.
