Last year, Robert Lance of Elite Painting NTX had an idea.

After years of sending Christmas cards to anyone who had contacted his company throughout the year, the list was getting extremely long. He decided that instead of sending cards, he would do something that would give back to the community as a way of saying thanks for their support.

Lance decided to give away two bikes (one for a girl and one for a boy), a great gift for the holidays. He purchased two bikes and made an announcement on Facebook about a Bicycle Giveaway. To enter, people must like/follow his business page on Facebook; share the post directly from his business page; and comment “Done – Boy” or “Done – Girl” on the original post. The winners of the bikes would be drawn in mid-December via livestream.

A week later, the owners at L5 Irrigation & Lighting Inc. reached out to Lance and offered to contribute another bicycle to the giveaway. Lance updated his original Facebook post thanking L5 Irrigation and the next thing he knew, the donations (from businesses and community members alike) began pouring in.

By the time the give-away rolled around, Lance had collected a total of 26 bicycles, ranging from small bikes with training wheels to larger bicycles. Some people offered monetary donations, which Lance used to purchase some smaller bikes for little kids.

“Seeing everyone support this idea has been really cool, and it says a lot about our community. Stuff like this makes me really love our town,” Lance said last year.

Last week, Lance announced that Elite Painting NTX would be holding another bicycle giveaway this holiday season.

“As the holiday season approaches, we understand that so many families are struggling this year. So we had a thought -- why not help and giveaway a couple of bicycles,” he posted on Facebook.

After posting about the giveaway for one boy’s bike and one girl’s bike, it wasn’t long before two more bicycles appeared on Lance’s doorstep from an anonymous donor.

“The bike donations have started!!” he posted on Facebook Monday morning. “Thank you so much for your Anonymous donation in trying to help the kiddos in our community have a great Christmas!! I love the generosity of our amazing community.”

Anyone wanting to enter the giveaway (either for your own child or for a family in need) must Like/Follow the Elite Painting NTX business page; share the post directly from the business page; and comment “Done – Boy” or “Done – Girl” on the original post to indicate which bike they’re interested in.

The two winners of the bikes will be drawn on Dec. 12 around 8 p.m. during a livestream.

Lance wants the bikes to go to local families, so he asks that entrants reside in the North Texas/Texoma area. This not only helps to make bike delivery easier but allows Elite Painting NTX to give back to the amazing community who supports them.

Lance also warns against spammers/scammers who may copy his business page telling people they’ve won.

“Don’t fall for that, and please don’t click on any links those fake profiles post,” Lance warned. “I will livestream the drawing.”

Anyone who would like to contribute to the drawing can contact Lance by messaging him via the Elite Painting NTX Facebook page.
