Pirates sail to third round
The Collinsville Pirates are on to the third round for the fourth year in a row after a 26-6 win over Wheeler Friday at Iowa Park.
Paxton Davidson went 13-of-19 passing for 178 yards and two touchdowns.
They also rushed five times for 77 yards and a TD.
Chad Davidson had 104 yards and a TD on three catches.
Chase Sheppard rushed for 113 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries.
Jaxon Spivey had a touchdown pass.
The Pirates scored on their fourth play of the game when Paxton Davidson found paydirt on a 60-yard sprint down the sideline.
They struck even quicker on their next scoring drive when Paxton Davidson found Chad Davidson on a 65-yard dart that put them up 14-0 with 2:46 left in the first quarter.
The Collinsville momentum ensued all night and their defense answered the call.
The win took Collinsville to 10-2 on the year.
They are set for a district rematch with Lindsay at 1 p.m. on Friday at Springtown.
The winner goes on to the regional finals to face the winner of Muenster and Albany.
The defending State Champ Muenster Hornets is another district rival and handed the Pirates their only district loss earlier this year— with a 49-28 final on Oct. 31.
The Pirates topped Lindsay 49-27 on the road on Oct. 17.
Tioga falls to Dodd City
The Tioga Lady Bulldogs fell to Dodd City Friday night at home with a 40-37 final.
Ella Norwood led the effort with 16 points, four rebounds and four assists.
Kyndall Whitley had eight points and eight rebounds.
Timber Johnson had six points.
Zoey Hodge landed six rebounds.
The loss took Tioga to 1-2 on the year.
They opened a home tournament on Monday.
Lady Cats fall to VA
The Whitesboro Lady Bearcat basketball team fell to Van Alstyne last week on the road with a 44-20 final.
Jentry Patterson led the Whitesboro effort with six points.
Reagan Downs had five points, seven rebounds and four steals.
Frida Lopez had seven rebounds.
The loss took Whitesboro to 2-2 on the year of the Ponder Tournament over the weekend.
Tioga ladies tops S&S
The Tioga Lady Bulldog basketball team picked up a home win last week with a 37-31 final over S&S.
Kyndall Whitley led the attack with 13 points, six steals and five rebounds.
Timber Johnson had nine points, five rebounds and four steals.
Ella Norwood was good for nine points.
Brennan Guenther had four points and six rebounds.
Zoey Hodge landed six rebounds.
The win took Tioga to 1-1 on the year.
They hosted Dodd City on Friday night.
