Author: Suzette Strong

Every year, Suzette Strong, kindergarten teacher at Whitesboro’s Hayes Primary School, asks her students to share their favorite Thanksgiving recipes with the community.
The following recipes are printed just as they were submitted. While the results are charming, we recommend home chefs use caution as we suspect some of these recipes may yield rather interesting results. Enjoy!

Chicken Eggs by Alexa Melchor
Go to your friend’s houses and get 4 or 3 eggs for 12 dollars.  Bring them back home.  Crack them open and put them in a bowl.  Add 1 spoon of salt and 1 carton of milk.  Mix them up and cook them in a pan on a medium stove for 15 minutes.  The eggs are done after your Mom waits a while.  They taste good!

Macaroni and Cheese by Alistyn Winterrowd
Buy 1 box of macaroni and cheese for 3 dollars and 1 jar of red sauce for 3 dollars at Wal-Mart.  Take it home and put the noodles in a pot with 1 cup of water and boil for 5 minutes.  Add 1 spoon of butter, 1 cup of milk, and the cheese sauce packet.  Add red sauce to your noodles.   Mix it all up.  I never tasted it, but I think it tastes like normal meatloaf!

Turkey by Audie Leewitt
Buy a 50 pound turkey at the grocery store for 14 dollars.  Bring it home and put it in a pan.  Add 50 cups of water, no salt because your kids won’t like it, no pepper because your kids won’t like it, and 4 sticks of butter.  Cook it on a medium stove for 40 minutes.  It’s done when your Mom says that the turkey is done.  Mom will say that dinner is done!  I never tasted it, but I think it tastes like chicken!

Heart Cheese Sandwiches by Auzha Tracy
Buy a loaf of bread for 3 dollars and a little bit of cheese for 2 dollars from the Dollar Store.  Take two slices of bread and put a little bit of cheese in the middle.  Cook it in a pan on a high stove for 3 minutes.  It’s done when the timer clicks and when it rings, that’s when it’s done.  Have your Mom use a cookie cutter to cut the sandwich into hearts.  It tastes like cheese!

Bacon by Doris Cunningham
Buy 2 packages of bacon for 4 dollars at Wal-Mart.  Bring it home and put the slices on a pan.  Cook it on a high stove for 1 hour.  The stove will beep when it is done.  Serve your bacon with eggs and some toast.  It tastes like chicken!

Pumpkin Pie by Emmitt Simmons
I don’t really know how Grandma makes the pies because I’m normally on the way to her house when she is making the pies.  Buy a can of pumpkin at Wal-Mart for 10 dollars.  Put 10 ounces of flour, ½ stick of butter, and 2 ounces of oil in a bowl and mix it up.  Put it in a pie pan for the crust.  Take a large bowl and add the can of pumpkin, 3 ounces of sugar, 1 ounce of vanilla, and 1 egg.  Mix it up and pour it in your crust.  Cook it in a 4 degree oven for 10 minutes.  It’s done when the timer dings.  Take it out and let it cool.  Eat it by itself.  It tastes like pumpkins!

Chicken by Jay Sutherland
Go to the store and buy a package of chicken for 1 dollar.  Don’t put salt or pepper on the chicken for the kids because they won’t eat it.  You can put salt and pepper on the chicken for the adults.  Put it in a pan and your Dad will cook it on a high stove for 1 minute.  It’s done when his timer goes off.  He also looks at the chicken several times to see if it’s done.  He gets the kids to taste it to see if it’s done.  It just tastes like chicken!

Cow Meat Steak by Jordyn Sanchez
Get a cow off your farm and put it in a trailer.  Take the cow to a butcher and have him take off the whole skin.  The butcher cuts the cow into pieces and puts the meat in a bag.  Your Mom pays the butcher 5 dollars to get the cow ready.  Put the bags of meat in the freezer.  Take out 2 steaks to cook.  Put 100 shakes of pepper, 2 shakes of salt, and 2 shakes of steak sauce on the meat.  Cook the steaks on the grill for 5 minutes.  Your Mom will check the steaks in the middle after 5 minutes.  Your Mom is really smart and will know when they are done.  The steaks taste yummy like a real cow!

Ham by Kelton Meda
Buy a 5 pound ham at the grocery market for 61 dollars.  Bring it home and put it in a big pan.  Rub 5 sticks of butter on your ham.  Cook it in a 400 degree oven for 5 hours.  It’s done when the oven makes a beeping sound from the timer.  Serve it on a plate and eat it.  It tastes good I think, but we never really made it so I really don’t know!

Chocolate Cake by Marian Hermandez
Buy a chocolate cake mix for 6 dollars and a can of chocolate icing for 3 dollars at the store.  Put the cake mix in a bow and add 1 cup of water, 3 eggs, and 3 cups of oil.  Mix it and put it in a pan.  Cook it in a 4 degree oven for 3 minutes.  Let it cool and ice it with your chocolate icing.  It tastes like chocolate!

Turkey by Matthew Rexrode
Go to the store with your Dad and buy a 6 pound turkey for 3 or 2 dollars.  You don’t actually cook it because your family may not like cooking it, but sometimes you have to cook it.  Put it in a big pot with 5 drops of water, 8 sticks of butter, 200 shakes of salt, and no pepper.  Your Mom can put the pepper on later.  The kids in the house can’t put the pepper in because they might be allergic to pepper.  Most kids don’t like spices like pepper.  Cook it in a really hot stove at 18 or 19 degrees for 2 minutes.  When you hear a beep from the timer, it’s done. You can eat chicken with it because the kids will like chicken better than turkey.  It tastes just like normal turkey!

Apple Pie by Samer Leon
Buy a big can of apple pie filling at the store for 1 million dollars.  Make a pie crust for your pie.  Put 1 million cups of flour in a bowl, 1 million cups of water, and 2 cups of oil.  Mix it all together and make a crust in your pan.  Pour the apple pie filling in.  Bake it in a 1-million-degree oven for 100 million minutes.  It’s done when the oven goes beep!  Put some white chocolate, skittles, and banana ice cream or vanilla ice cream on top.  It tastes like candy corn!

Green Beans by Sophia Labrada
Buy 2 pounds of fresh green beans at the store for 5 dollars.  Bring them home and wash them.  Put them in a big pot and add 1 shake of pepper.  Cook the green beans on a low stove for 5 minutes.  They are done when you put them on a plate and eat them.  They taste salty!

Chicken by Teddy Craven
Buy a package of chicken for 5 dollars.  Bring it home and put it in a pan.  Add 1 spoon of water, 5 sticks of butter, 5 shakes of salt, and 5 shakes of pepper.  Add some more chicken to the pan.  Cook it in a 10-degree oven for 10 minutes.  It’s done after 10 minutes.  Take it out and eat it with green beans, mashed potatoes, and bacon.  Bacon is the best!  It tastes just like chicken!
