To the editor,
This is the time of year we begin to think about the holidays and how we want to celebrate. Some families have long standing traditions and others have new ways to celebrate each year. Most of us like to give thanks for having a good life and are thankful for family and neighbors.
I recently heard a good sermon on the life suggestion of “Looking for the good.”
It seems that if you look for the good you will find it. In a small town like Whitesboro, I think it is easier to be kind and supportive since you get to know your neighbors.
At least that has been my experience. I have known my neighbors better here in Whitesboro than when I lived in Los Angeles, California, Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Willington, Delaware.
Although I have to admit I made good friends in all those places too.
This last weekend I witnessed an “un-neighborly” episode. At first, I was shocked. But as I thought about the action, I was not surprised, and just chuckled, for the action just fit in with the neighbor.
In addition, as part of that above mentioned sermon, “If you look for the bad or problems, you will find those too.”
If you want to be known as a good neighbor, you have to act like a good neighbor.
Whitesboro is filled with good neighbors and we have numerous ways to show that support, that concern, that love.
Since this has been an especially tough year, lets show how we all can be good neighbors and give to the charity of your choice.
Just pick one: Whitesboro Fire Department Toy Drive, Your Neighbor’s House, the Food Baskets handed out at the Baptist Church, The Veteran’s Club, Ministerial Alliance who help folks all year long, or your favorite charity or church.
Let’s prove that Whitesboro is the greatest and friendliest place to live in Texas!!
