Pirates come in second at STATE
The Collinsville boys cross-country team finished as the Class 2A runner-up last week after a strong finish at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock.
The Pirates improved from a fifth-place State finish last year.
They took second with 115 points to finish behind Windthorst.
Gruver and Slidell came in third and fourth.
Senior Isaiah Smith led the Collinsville effort with 17:21.30 to finish 15th.
Junior Fernando Perez was 25th in 17:42.
Freshman Noah Smith was 42nd in 18:06.
Freshman Isaac Dewey earned 52nd in 18:17.60.
Freshman Tanner Frick was 67th in 18:31.10.
Sophomore Jose Ramirez was 69th in 18:37.30.
Senior Austin Caldwell was 109th in 19:30.80.
Tioga senior Dominique Oranday placed 33rd in 17:52— 10 seconds outside the Top 25.
Lady Cats run at STATE
The Whitesboro Lady Bearcat cross country team finished sixth in Class 3A at the State meet last week in Round Rock.
Senior Brylee Weddle led the Lady Bearcats in 12:25.4 to place 27th.
Senior Aubrey Beam was 46th in 12:36.8.
Sophomore Nya Degraffenreed placed 51st in 12:40.4.
Sophomore Paisley Blevins was 65th in 12:49.2.
Junior Tammy Lopez was 81st with a time of 12:58.9.
Junior Jasmin Hernandez was 88th in 13:08.8.
Sophomore Karen Melchor was 100th in 13:19.8.
They amassed 157 points— just six points behind Lytle for a top-five placement.
They were up 13th at State last year.
Bearcats fall to Pilot Point
The Whitesboro Bearcats fell to Pilot Point 45-20 Friday night on the road in district play.
Quarterback Colt Fagan went 13-of-24 passing for 189 yards, three touchdowns and an interception
Camron Howard had four catches for 80 yards and a TD.
Shayne Gabbert had a 44-yard touchdown catch.
Mason Scarbrough had five catches for 37 yards and a TD.
Justin Knight rushed 14 times for 47 yards.
The loss took Whitesboro to 5-4 on the year and 3-2 in district play.
They have secured a playoff spot despite the loss.
They end the regular season tonight at home against first-place Pottsboro.
The Bearcats are sitting at fourth-place in the district standings.
Pirates fall to Muenster
The Collinsville Pirates fell to Muenster 49-28 Friday night on the road.
Quarterback Paxton Davidson went 26-of-36 passes for 248 yards, three touchdowns and an interception.
He also rushed 10 times for 92 yards and a TD.
Chad Davidson had eight catches for 122 yards and TD.
Chase Sheppard had 32 yards and a score on five catches.
He also ran eight times for 27 yards.
Jaxon Spivey had four catches for 46 yards.
Landry Spivey had a touchdown grab.
The loss took Collinsville to 7-2 on the year and 3-1 in district play.
They are second place in the district race and stay there with a win over Santo tonight at home.
Rams routed by Gunter
The S&S Rams fell out of playoff contention Friday night with a 63-8 loss to Gunter on the road.
Joe Orr led the Ram effort with two catches for 25 yards and a score.
Hunter Courville passed for 47 yards and a score, ran for 20 yards and had a 14-yard catch.
The Rams fell to 2-6 on the year and 0-5 in district play.
They ended the year Thursday at home against Callisburg.

Tioga tops Wolfe City
The Tioga Bulldogs picked up a 50-44 win last week over Wolfe City at home in district play and secured a playoff spot.
After a night of back-and-forth, the Tioga defense was the deal-breaker.
Justin Arrington’s 83-yard pick-six in the final minute enabled the Bulldogs to land the plane.
Arrington also added three catches for 65 yards and a TD.
Kyson Kirkland came in at quarterback for the injured Greeley McAden and finished 10-of-12 passing for 197 yards and three touchdowns.
Jaxson Hurst had nine catches for 143 yards and two touchdowns.
Quesyn Arrington had a 79-yard TD catch.
McAden ran six times for 61 yards and a TD before leaving the game in the second quarter with an injury.
He also went 6-of-10 passing for 122 yards, a touchdown and an interception.
The win took Tioga to 4-4 on the year and 3-2 in district.
They end the regular season tonight at Nocona.
The Bulldogs are locked into the fourth place regardless.
They could tie for second in the standings with Wolfe City and Tom Bean but lose out on tie-breakers.
Lady Pirates top Graford
The Collinsville Lady Pirate volleyball team beat Graford, 20-25, 24-26, 25-20, 25-20, 17-15, in the district round last week in Bridgeport.
Kendall Brandewie and Jaydee Matlock each had 18 kills
Paige Davidson had 41 assists and 21 digs.
Reese Patterson had 17 digs.
The win took Collinsville to 27-12 on the year.
They met North Hopkins in the area round Tuesday.

Lady Cats take bi-district
The Whitesboro Lady Bearcat volleyball team swept the first bi-district round Oct. 30 against Fort Worth Young Women’s Leadership 25-14, 25-17, 25-20 at Denton High School.
The win took Whitesboro to 29-14 on the year.
Lady Rams clipped by Commerce
The S&S Lady Ram volleyball team exited the post season last week with when they came up short against Commerce, 25-21, 19-25, 25-15, 23-25, 6-15, in the bi-district round at Howe.
S&S finished the season 23-19.
Lady Bulldogs advance
The Lady Tioga Bulldog volleyball team swept Alvord, 25-16, 25-23, 25-20, in a Class 2A Division I Region II bi-district round last week at Valley View.
Kyndall Whitley led the attack with 13 kills, 14 digs and three blocks.
Kennedy Slay and Maddison McDonald each had nine kills.
Bella Dennis had 17 digs.
Ella Norwood had 21 assists, nine digs and five aces.
Sadie Bates had 11 assists.
The win took Tioga to 30-8 on the year.
They met Wolfe City in the area round Tuesday night. Results were not available as of press time.
