Beginning on Nov. 15 and continuing each Saturday, Whitesboro’s House of Brews coffee house on Main Street will host a book signing for local authors. There will be one each week from noon-2 p.m.

The first featured author will be Nancy McLaughlin. Nancy was born and raised in Massachusetts. After serving in the United States Marine Corps, she returned home and went to college. Not long after, she moved to California and married. Six kids and multiple moves around the U.S. later, she and her family call Whitesboro home.

When she’s not fostering and finding homes for all the stray cats that seem to wander onto her property, she writes thriller and horror books. To date, she has published eight books.

American Nomads, a thriller set primarily in Denton, Texas, is based around a group of modern day train-hoppers. It’s a coming-of-age thriller about a group of runaways struggling with the hard life they chose. This is a story about struggle, surviving the darkest recesses of our modern society and inevitably, finding your way home.

The American Nomads set includes Lost Boys (book two), Imaginary Dragons (book three) and True North, the fourth and final book in the series.

Crossroads, Volume 1 & 2 is a creepy supernatural horror set in Texas. Whitesboro residents might find the setting of these oddly familiar. This series could best be described as a Faustian bargain meets the Pied Piper.

Tricksters is a shapeshifter horror with a twist. A pack of shapeshifting coyotes hunt the West Texas hills, preying off of unwitting travelers. In this story, evil wears a human face -- sometimes.

Feral is her most recent release and is the follow-up of Tricksters. This one takes place primarily in Oklahoma, with a Trickster, Cajun Rougarou and, of course, chaos. Think Bonnie and Clyde, shapeshifter style. As one reader put it, “It’s a perfect combination of unhinged eating habits and young love.”

You can find all of McLaughlin’s titles anywhere books are sold. Come meet her and have your book signed at this first weekly book signing event.
