A Parishioner’s Point of View

For all the Saints
A Parishioner’s Point of View

During All Saint’s Day, we honor the saints of our church, those who have touched our lives and continue to lift us up, who invite us into a life bigger than ourselves. Thank you to those saints who go before us. Thank you for nurturing a place for us to grow in faith. We remember you; our gratitude lives on.

Such appreciation can be found in the hymn, “For All the Saints Who’ve Shown Your Love,” written by John Bell, a Scottish hymn-writer and Church of Scotland minister who lectures in theological colleges around the world.

“For all the saints who’ve shown your love,
In how they live and where they move,
For mindful women, caring men,
Accept our gratitude again.
For all the saints who loved your name
Whose faith increased the savior’s fame
Who sang your songs and shared your word
Accept our gratitude, good Lord.
For all the saints who named your will
And showed the kingdom coming still
Through selfless protest, prayer and praise
Accept gratitude we raise.
Bless all whose will or name or love
Reflects the grace of Heaven above
Though unacclaimed by Earthly powers
Your life through theirs has hallowed ours.”

All Saint’s Day is on Nov. 1, 2025. The theology of All Saint’s Day revolves around giving God solemn thanks for the life and death of his saints, whether famous or obscure.

Celebrate individuals who have personally led one to faith in Jesus.

May grace and peace be with you.
Amen.
