The City of Whitesboro announced last week that it is partnering with Sandy’s Feral-Fun to launch a Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program to help manage the town’s outdoor cat population.
The program will be available only to Whitesboro residents and will include fifteen $40 vouchers for the Nov. 17 clinic. The vouchers will cover spay/neuter, rabies vaccine and ear-tipping, a minor procedure in which a small part of the cat’s ear is surgically removed to indicate that the cat has been altered as part of a population control effort. Additional vaccines are available at the owner’s expense and vouchers are non-refundable.
Vouchers can be picked up beginning Monday, Oct. 27 at City Hall and are on a first-come, first-served basis. The hope is to be able to offer this service monthly or bimonthly, depending on demand.
Cats must be brought to the clinic in a live trap. Traps are available to borrow if needed, and the City of Whitesboro can help transport cats to and from the clinic.
Cats must be dropped off Nov. 16 between 10 a.m. and noon at 280 Shawnee Trail in Whitesboro. Cats will return to town and be ready for pick-up the following afternoon/evening.
Anyone who needs help trapping a cat or has questions about vouchers should call 903-436-5546. The City will be in direct contact with all voucher holders.
Please remember, this is the City’s first time offering this program. Workers appreciate the public’s patience as they work to make a positive impact on the community.
They thank you for helping them take this step toward responsible animal care in Whitesboro.
