On Tuesday, Oct. 7, cities around the country celebrated National Night Out, a movement to increase engagement and strengthen the relationships between law enforcement and citizens.
In Whitesboro, the community gathered at Whitecotton Park, where vendors had booths set up with give-aways and families could enjoy snow cones, a petting zoo and bounce houses.
City and first responder vehicles were on hand for kids to explore, and CareFlite had a helicopter on-site for people to see firsthand.
Whitesboro police, fire, dispatch and ISD police staff were on hand to visit and answer questions
In downtown Collinsville, the annual National Night Out event included food, games and vendors as well as a performance by the Shields of Honor Pipes and Drums.
Local leaders Mayor Chase Guidera, Collinsville Police Lieutenant Jon Cheshire, Grayson County Sheriff Tony Bennie and Municipal Judge Britton Brooks each addressed the crowd as well.
The Collinsville Police Department would like to thank the Collinsville Economic and Industrial Corporations for sponsoring the event.
Mark your calendar for next October, as these events get bigger and better every year,
