Despite warm temperatures, fall is officially here, and it’s time to plan for indoor sports. The Whitesboro Parks and Recreation Department (PARD) is now registering players for its 3rd/4th and 5th/6th grade basketball leagues. The registration deadline is Friday, Oct. 31 at 5 p.m.
The league is open to boys and girls in the 3rd through 6th grades only. The registration fee is $100. Scholarships are available, and there is a family discount for multiple players. No scholarships will be given after the deadline; no exceptions. Any registration made after the deadline will require the full fee and a $10 late fee and will be based on roster availability.
Forms were distributed through area schools and can also be downloaded from the department’s website at www.whitesboro.org/pard. Forms should be turned in at the Jimmie O. Rector Community Center at 400 Wilson St. in Whitesboro. (Please note that each participant must submit a copy of their birth certificate with registration, regardless of past participation.)

There will be scout day for all players and coaches on Monday evening, Nov. 10. Information regarding this event is included on the department’s website. League games are played on Saturdays at the Intermediate School and the Hayes Primary School gyms in Whitesboro. The season will begin on Dec. 6.
