For the past several days, the city of Whitesboro has been making preparations for its 59th Annual Peanut Festival, set to take place this Saturday from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
Street sweeping trucks have been making their way through town to ensure the roads are clean for vendors and shoppers.
Businesses are sprucing their storefronts, Keep Whitesboro Beautiful has adorned downtown’s Main Street with fall decor,  and notices have been left on residents doors alerting them of road closures for the upcoming event.
But the real signal that plans are underway occurred Tuesday morning, when the folks of Triple T Amusements rolled into town to set up the carnival in the lot behind Tender Smokehouse BBQ.
With a day full of family-friendly entertainment on three stages throughout town, as well as hundreds of vendors, food and drink trucks, a Kid Alley with petting zoo and bounce house and much more, this event is sure to be the Whitesboro Area Chamber of Commerce’s most successful festival yet.
Entertainment begins at the Holiday Chevrolet Main Stage (at Main and Center Streets) at 9 a.m., with Opening Ceremonies beginning at 9:30 and the parade kicking off the day’s fun at 10 a.m.
Be sure to check out the Peanut Festival Guide located inside this issue of the News-Record, which provides a full listing of the day’s events and activities, an event map to help you find your favorite vendors and some great bits of history and fun facts about everyone’s favorite hometown festival.
Don’t miss the fun this Saturday (the carnival is open Thursday and Friday nights as well) in downtown Whitesboro.
