Pirates run on to regional meet
The Collinsville cross-country teams advanced to the Region meet after standout district performances Monday in Alvord.
They will be joined at the next round by Tioga senior Jillian Rodriguez.
The Pirates earned their fourth straight boys district title with 41 points. The Lady Pirates finished second. Tioga boys placed third.
Senior Isaiah Smith led the Pirate pack with a gold medal time of 17:07.08.
Junior Fernando Perez was the runner-up in 17:11.62.
Freshman Noah Smith was 10th in 17:59.30.
Sophomore Jose Ramirez was 13th in 18:29.30.
Sophomore Ranger Robinson placed 18th in 19:50.98.
Freshman Tanner Frick was 31st in 21:34.49.
Senior Chad Davidson was 32nd in 21:50.91.
Tioga Senior Alexis Santoyo-Pina led the Bulldogs with a fourth-place finish in 17:27.79.
Senior Dominique Oranday was seventh with a time of 17:37.76.
Junior Garrison Black was 14th in 18:54.19.
Sophomore Maddux Rodriguez was 24th in 20:24.88.
Junior Ramsey Washington was 27th in 21:01.43.
Sophomore Noah Vazquez was 42nd with a time of 25:25.25.
In the girls’ division, Collinsville had 67 points to finish just behind Muenster.
Tioga was sixth with 150 points.
Collinsville senior Ashleigh Ortowski led the pack with a time of 12:56.52 to finish sixth.
Sophomore Paige Davidson was 11th in 13:33.62.
Sophomore Zoey Kays 12th in 13:35.06.
Freshman Bailey Jones was 17th in 14:01.27.
Senior Kim Perez was 26th in 14:19.96.
Senior Reese Patterson was 36th in 14:54.26.
Senior Jaydee Matlock was 45th in 15:47.68.
Rodriguez led Tioga with a fifth-place finish in 12:54.84.
Sophomore Timber Johnson was 34th in of 14:51.33.
Freshman Kloie Lange was 43rd in 15:37.46.
Sophomore Skilar Hodge was 44th in 15:38.44.
Freshman Taelynn Reed was 48th in 17:50.59.
The 2A Region II meet is Oct. 21 at the Harold Patterson Sports Complex in Arlington.
Across the area, Whitesboro runners competed in the district meet Thursday at Boyd.

Bearcats open district with a win
The Whitesboro Bearcats opened district play with a 29-21 road win over Life Oak Cliff last week.
Justin Knight led the offensive attack with 29 carries for 197 yards and two TDs.
Colt Fagan went 11-of-12 passing for 122 yards and two scores.
Wyatt Winchester had two catches for 48 yards and a TD.
Camron Howard had 48 yards on four catches.
Ian Bruce grabbed a touchdown catch.
The win took Whitesboro to 3-2 on the year and 1-0 in district play.
They host Dallas Madison for tonight’s homecoming game.
Rams fall to Blue Ridge
The S&S Rams fell to 0-2 in district play with a 49-21 loss to Blue Ridge Friday at home.
Hunter Courville led the Ram effort with rushes 10 for 75 yards and a TD.
He also went 13-of-23 passing for 93 yards and a score
Noah Rondeau had 12 carries for 35 yards and a TD.
Joe Orr finished with 64 yards on nine catches.
Connor Roberts landed two catches for 21 yards and a score
The loss took S&S to 2-3 on the year.
They have a bye tonight and return Oct. 17 at Leonard.
Blue Ridge (2-2, 1-0) hosts Leonard on Friday.
Tioga toppled by Tom Bean
The Tioga Bulldogs lost a shootout to Tom Bean last week on the road with a 47-38 in district play.
Tioga’s loss was their third of the year and second in district play.
The Tomcats extended their record to 6-0 and matched their win total from last year.
Greeley McAden led the Tioga effort with 26 carries for 292 yards and four touchdowns.
He also went 17-of-28 passing for 245 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions.
Jake David chipped in 65 yards and a TD on six catches.
Jaxson Hurst landed six catches for 67 yards.
Justin Arrington had two catches for 71 yards.
Jonathan Hernandez had eight carries for 98 yards and two catches for 38 yards.
The Bulldogs ended their nine-game district winning streak that dated back to 2023.
Any hopes for a win were extinguished by a Tom Bean interception with 1:21 remaining while Tioga had second-and-goal at the three-yard line.
The loss took Tioga to 2-3 on the year and 1-1 in district play.
They host Whitewright tonight.
Lady Cats lose to Ponder
The Whitesboro Lady Bearcat volleyball team fell to Ponder 25-19, 25-4, 25-14 Friday night on the road.
The loss took Whitesboro to 24-13 on the year and 3-4 in district play.
They hosted Pilot Point Tuesday, but results were not available as of press time.
Lady Rams land win over Leonard
The S&S Lady Ram volleyball team beat Leonard in four sets, 25-20, 25-17, 16-25, 25-20, Friday night on the road in district play.
Brooklyn Sterling led the attack with 15 kills, 13 digs and five aces.
Brady Clark had 10 kills and four blocks.
Lola Morrow had seven kills and two blocks.
Emily Bullard had five kills and three aces.
Rylee Garrison landed 38 assists.
Lana Walters had 16 digs.
The win took S&S to 19-16 on the year and 2-5 in district play.
They traveled to Bells on Tuesday night. Results were not available as of press time.
Tioga takes Collinsville in 3
The Tioga Lady Bulldog volleyball team claimed first place in the district standings with a 26-24, 25-17, 25-21 sweep of Collinsville Friday on the road.
Kennedy Slay led the Bulldog attack with 13 kills, four blocks and three aces.
Maddison McDonald had 10 kills and three blocks.
Kyndall Whitley had nine kills, 13 digs and three blocks.
Bella Dennis had 14 digs.
Ella Norwood had 26 assists, nine digs and three aces.
The win took Tioga to 25-6 on the year and 4-0 in district play.
They traveled to Whitewright on Tuesday. Results were not available as of press time.

Lady Cats clip Callisburg
The Whitesboro Lady Bearcat volleyball team swept Callisburg, 25-18, 25-22, 26-24, on Sept. 20 at home in district play.
The win took Whitesboro to 24-12 on the year and 3-3 in district play. They are ranked fourth in district.
They traveled to Ponder on Friday.
Callisburg fell to 12-19 on the year and 2-4 in district.
They host Paradise Friday.
Collinsville sweeps Whitewright
The Collinsville Lady Pirate volleyball team swept Whitewright 25-19, 25-22, 25-23 Sept. 30 at home in district play.
Jaydee Matlock led the attack with 16 kills.
Kendall Brandewie and Ali Patterson each had eight kills.
Ashleigh Ortowski offered four kills.
Paige Davidson landed 29 assists, 14 digs and five aces.
Reese Patterson had 11 digs.
Bailey Miller had eight digs.
The win took Collinsville to 22-9 on the year and 3-0 in district play.
They traveled to Tioga on Friday.
It was Whitewright’s first district loss on the year.

The Tioga Lady Bulldog volleyball team stayed perfect in district play with a 25-21, 25-18, 25-18 sweep of Tom Bean Sept. 30 on the road.
Kennedy Slay had 20 kills and seven digs.
Kyndall Whitley had four kills and 12 digs.
Sadie Bates offered 13 assists and three aces.
Ella Norwood had 11 assists.
Bella Dennis had 14 digs.
Kenzee Powers landed seven digs and three aces.
The win took Tioga to 24-6 on the year and 3-0 in district play.
