On Tuesday, Oct. 7, cities across Texas will be hosting National Night Out, an opportunity to bring local law enforcement together with the community to strengthen the partnership in keeping these cities a safe place to live.
The Whitesboro Police Department (WPD) will host their event from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at Whitecotton Park. The event will include touch-a-truck with new equipment added, vendor booths, snow cones, bounce houses, a petting zoo and more.
A sensory-friendly hour from 5:30-6:30 p.m. will offer no lights or sirens and as little loud noise as possible.
The event is free to attend and all are encouraged to gather with their friends and neighbors and get to know the members of the WPD.
The Collinsville Police Department (CPD) will host National Night Out in downtown Collinsville from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Sponsored by the Collinsville Economic Development Corporation and the Collinsville Industrial Development Corporation, this free event will include food, games and vendors. The people of Collinsville are deeply grateful for and proudly stand behind those who serve and protect through law enforcement.
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. The event enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. It also provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.
Millions of neighbors take part in National Night Out across thousands of communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories and military bases worldwide on the first Tuesday in August (Texas and select areas celebrate on the first Tuesday in October). Neighborhoods host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and various other community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel, exhibits and more.
