Marty Hall joins Southmayd PD

Last Tuesday night, Sept. 16 at 6 p.m., the Southmayd Police Chief Jeff Laughlin welcomed  Martin “Marty” Hall to the Southmayd Police Department with a swearing-in ceremony.

Hall was born in Sherman, Texas, and raised in the Southmayd/Sherman area, with deep roots in the local community. He is a proud 1992 graduate of S&S High School, where he met his oldest and dearest friend of 35 years, Teresa. With over 27 years of law enforcement experience, Hall brings a wealth of knowledge, leadership and dedication to public service.

Hall began his career in 1998 as a civilian jailer at the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office before graduating from the Texoma Regional Police Academy in 1999. Since then, he has served with distinction in numerous roles to include patrol, narcotics, fugitive apprehension, SWAT, field training and shift supervision, eventually rising to the rank of Chief Deputy. 

His work ethic and passion for serving others defined his career with the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, earning him respect as a dependable leader and public servant. 

Hall’s leadership skills and experience make him an incredible asset to the Southmayd Police Department and the communities it serves.

With the addition of Officer Hall, the Southmayd Police Department now has over 130 years of law enforcement experience. Welcome to the department, Officer Hall!
