The Whitesboro Police Department (WPD) is warning citizens about a text message scam that is currently circulating in the area.
Citizens have been receiving text messages falsely claiming to be from the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV). These messages state that the recipient has an “outstanding ticket.”
The WPD has confirmed that these messages are not being sent by the TxDMV. Anyone receiving these texts should not respond to them (especially with any personal or financial information) and should not click on any links contained in the messages.
