The First United Methodist Church of Whitesboro hosted its annual WISD Employee Appreciation Luncheon at its Wesley Hall last Monday from noon to 1:30 p.m.
For over a decade, the church (which loves to connect with the community) has been holding this special event to help encourage Whitesboro school staff and employees -- from bus drivers to cafeteria workers -- before the new school year officially kicks off.
This year, food was catered by 56 Deli and local businesses provided discounts and give-aways, which attendees could win in drawings. About 150 employees were in attendance.
Staff enjoyed a much-needed break in the day as they prepared for that evening’s district-wide Meet the Teacher night. As of that afternoon, educators were still putting the finishing touches on their classrooms in preparation for welcoming their students.
WISD schools resume Wednesday, Aug. 13.
