Whitesboro’s Hayes Primary announces changes to breakfast, lunch logistics for new school year

Whitesboro’s Hayes Primary announces changes to breakfast, lunch logistics for new school year

In preparation of the new school year, J.W. “Dub” Hayes Primary School in Whitesboro has announced two changes that will affect breakfast and lunch at school.

First, breakfast will be served in the cafeteria this year, as opposed to in the classroom as has been done in past years. (The one exception is the first day of school, as students will be eating breakfast in the classroom on this day.)

Students who plan to eat breakfast at school should arrive by 7:30 a.m.. Staff will begin opening car doors between 7:15 and 7:20 a.m.

All kindergarten through second-grade students will go to the cafeteria upon arrival. Beginning at 7:45 a.m., cafeteria doors will close and front doors and doors leading to the second-grade hall will open. (Pre-kindergarten students will eat breakfast in the cafeteria at 8:30 a.m.)

All doors will close and the tardy bell will ring at 7:50 a.m.

Students arriving at 7:45 a.m. or later should not be dropped off with food in hand. Food should be finished before exiting their vehicles.

In addition to the change in location for breakfast, the school also announced a change to parent/guardian lunch visits this year.

On Fridays beginning in October, parents/guardians will be allowed to come eat with their students at lunch.

However, each student will be allowed two lunch visits per semester. (Thanksgiving lunch and Grandparents’ lunch do not count towards these lunch visits.)

Parents/guardians will be required to sign-in at the front office before going to the cafeteria.

Breakfast and lunch meals for all students will be free of charge this year.
