NTMC nationally recognized again

NTMC nationally recognized again

For the second time in two months, North Texas Medical Center (NTMC) in Gainesville has been recognized nationally.

NTMC recently was named a High Performing Hospital by “US News and World Report.” Last month, NTMC was named to Becker Healthcare’s list of “100 Great Community Hospitals.”

Scores used by “US News and World Report” are based on surveys given to patients after leaving the hospital. The Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey is required of most hospitals and asks patients to rate their hospital stay. Each hospital receives an overall score in each category.

In the category of Pneumonia, NTMC received 4 out of 5 Stars in Patient Experience on the HCAHPS survey. The hospital scored above the national average in the following categories: Satisfaction with the hospital overall, Willingness to recommend, Satisfaction with hospital room cleanliness, Satisfaction with noise volume, Satisfaction with doctors’ communications, Satisfaction with nurses’ communications, Satisfaction with quality of discharge information, Satisfaction with communication about medicines, and Satisfaction with staff responsiveness.

More than 6,000 hospitals were evaluated for this scorecard. NTMC was one of only 639 that was rated as High Performing. A hospital’s pneumonia score is based on multiple data categories, including patient survival, discharging patients to home, nurse staffing and more.

NTMC is a 5-Star hospital for quality of care according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. The hospital has also been named a Center of Excellence for Nursing Services according to the Center for Improvement in Healthcare Quality.
