Construction projects around the Whitesboro High School area have affected traffic routes, and after observing several near head-on collisions, Whitesboro Independent School District (WISD) has partnered with the City of Whitesboro to make even more temporary traffic changes for the school year.
The district announced Monday that starting on Wednesday, Aug, 13, 4th Street will become a one-way street from the high school to the middle school.
This means that 4th Street will no longer have direct access to Hwy. 82. Patrons exiting Hwy. 82 will still have access to eastbound 4th Street and to the high school. This will be a “detour” as drivers travel down 4th Street.
Starting Wednesday, traffic flow westbound on 4th Street will be for ISD purposes only beyond the middle school. This is a temporary solution designed to eliminate a major traffic concern.
Once the new road (which will wrap around the baseball and softball complex) is complete, the north entry/exit from the high school will be shut off completely.

The district and city have implemented these changes to strive for solutions to keep all parties safe as school resumes for a new academic year.
