Whether you’re drawn to the sublime elegance of classical sacred music or the festive spirit of a modern holiday masterpiece, the North Central Texas Chorale (NCTC) offers a welcoming space to grow, learn and shine. Join a community of passionate singers, guided by an experienced director, rehearsing in a collaborative atmosphere where every voice matters. Lend your talent to the group’s “Classically Christmas” concert—together you’ll create moments of joy, reflection and pure musical magic that will linger in your hearts long after the final note.
The Chorale is a community-based chorus that has been in existence for over 45 years and is looking to add more singers. There is no audition required to sing with the Chorale, but they do ask that singers have experience singing in choirs. The ability to read music and sing on pitch is also very important. Although a majority of Chorale members are from Gainesville, many other cities have been represented, including Bonita, Dallas, Denton, Decatur, Lindsay, Pilot Point, Muenster, Sanger, St. Jo, Valley View and Whitesboro.
The Chorale’s director, Mr. Clint Kelley, received his Bachelor of Music from The University of Texas at Tyler. From 2006 to 2007 he worked with the University of Nevada Reno Community Chorus prior to coming to Texas. Kelley is a creative concert planner who excels at motivating and inspiring singers.
Shirley Hatfield will be the accompanist/organist this season. She has been the Organist-Choirmaster of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Gainesville since 2009. Prior to coming to Gainesville, she served as Organist-Choirmaster of St. Philip’s Episcopal Church in Ardmore, Oklahoma for 40 years.
Rehearsals are on Tuesdays from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Choir Room at the First State Bank Center for the Performing Arts. This building is on the NCTC campus in Gainesville. Rehearsals will begin on Aug. 26.
The choir looks forward to adding more singers. If you have any questions, please contact Chorale Public Relations, Phil Schenk, at 940-387-1886.
