According to FBI crime data analyzed by SafeHome.org, Collinsville ranks among the safest cities in Texas for 2025.
While South Padre Island posted both the highest property crime rate and highest violent crime rate, the annual analysis reveals that Collinsville has the lowest property crime rate (larceny, vehicle theft and burglary) in the state.
According to the study, Texas is ranked 17th (that’s above the national average) for violent crime and ranks 9th for property crime. However, both of these rates have decreased year-over-year.
Still, these numbers aren’t entirely surprising given Texas’s explosive population growth, driven by job opportunities, affordable real estate and no state income tax.
Texas is positioned more moderately in crime rates compared to its neighboring states. It experiences lower violent crime rates than New Mexico, Louisiana and Arkansas, though its rate is slightly higher than Oklahoma’s. In terms of property crime, Texas’s rate is lower than that of New Mexico and Louisiana but higher than Oklahoma’s.
Nationally, violent crime (offenses involving force or threat of force, including murder/non-negligent manslaughter, rape, robbery and aggravated assault) is on the decline. Overall, from 2022 to 2023 (the most recent year for which comprehensive data is available), there was a three percent decrease in these offenses.
Collinsville Mayor Chase Guidera credits the city’s safety ranking to the relationship between the community and the police department.
“The community respects the police and our department loves this community,” he said. “They work hand-in-hand.”
