Last Tuesday, June 3, Robby Harp (owner of Robby’s BBQ in Sadler) suffered a sudden cardiac arrest and collapsed while working in Sherman.
Emergency Medical Services were able to transport Harp to the nearest hospital, Wilson N. Jones, where he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and placed on a ventilator.
There, he was found to have double pneumonia and severe dehydration.
After four days with no improvement, Harp was transported to Texoma Medical Center for more intensive treatment. Since then, he has been placed on the extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) machine, which is providing him a higher level of support for his heart and lungs.
Doctors are predicting that he may remain in the ICU and on the ECMO machine for up to four weeks.
Harp’s diagnosis has brought unimaginable challenges, not only to himself, but to his wife, Amber, and their children. In addition to an uncertain road ahead, the family is faced with medical bills, time away from work and therapy.
A GoFundMe page has been created (gofund.me/d084e5e8) to offer the family some relief during this difficult time and to lift some of the financial weight from their shoulders. Whether you know Harp from church, his concrete or metal building business, his restaurant or just as a friend, please consider making a contribution. Every dollar, every message and every share makes a difference.
As of press time, the GoFundMe page had raised just over $5,000 toward its goal of $30,000.
The family is grateful for the generosity and support of the community.
