As plans begin to move forward on the recent Whitesboro ISD bond projects, groundbreaking and construction have affected access to the high school for summer activities like the athletic department’s Summer Pride and the theater department’s Munchkin Camp.

For now, the only way to access the high school buildings is the north entrance at Hwy. 82 and Fourth Street. The Hwy. 56 entrance will be blocked off due to construction until further notice.

Students being dropped off for Summer Pride activities will enter the north end of the high school faculty parking area off Hwy. 82 or Fourth Street, loop around the parking lot and enter the building through the main entrance to the north end of the high school campus.

Students will then walk into the gym via the double doors at the northwest corner of the gymnasium for daily roll call and announcements.

Students driving themselves can park in the lots behind the baseball fields. In the event of rainy weather, that parking will be blocked by coaches and students will need to park at the middle school gym parking lot on the hill. A shuttle bus will then transport those students to the high school, leaving promptly at 7:15 a.m.

For Summer Pride, the normal daily schedule will continue throughout the summer with high school starting right at 7:25 a.m. No latecomers will be admitted.

“This is our new reality for the next two years,” Whitesboro Athletics posted on their Facebook page. “We will be learning to live and win inside a construction zone…Let’s help teach the kids together to leave early and plan for longer travel time/issues out of our control.”

Summer Pride will be held the following dates:
Week 1 – June 9-12
Week 2 – June 16-19
Week 3 – June 23-26
Holiday week for July 4th
Week 4 – July 7-10
Week 5 – July 14-17
Week 6 – July 21-24

High school will be held from 7:25-9 a.m. and Junior High will be held from 9:10-10:30 a.m. Sports specific will be held for one hour after each workout.

Summer Pride is a summer program for student athletes interested in working to further strengthen character and skills through training, workouts and practices. Enrollment is $25 per student.
