At this year’s Collinsville Education Foundation banquet, held on May 13, a total of $146,500 in scholarships was awarded to graduating Collinsville High School seniors this year from various organizations and businesses. These funds will help pay for school expenses as these students continue their education beyond high school.
Valedictorian Sarah Davenport received a $2,250 Joe & Norma Turner Memorial Scholarship while Salutatorian Gavin Russell received a $2,000 Dr. Wayne King Memorial Scholarship.
George Light received a $1,750 George & Bertha Light Memorial Scholarship for academic excellence. Russell and Caelyn Scott each received $10,000 from the Schindler Family Scholarships.
Grayson College provided the Shep & Bonner Dorset Memorial Scholarship to Savannah Carter and Kace Ford ($750 each). Grayson College also provided the Texoma Promise Scholarship ($300 each) to Savannah Carter, Davenport, Robert Denning, Ford, Alison Hardwick, Lexi Jones, Light, Kaleb Monk, Cash Morgan, Riley Patterson, Alex Rangel, Trinity Reynolds, Rylee Robinson, Russell, Scott, Garrett Trevino, Tessa Vannoy, Brayden Vaughn, London Williams and Eli Ochoa.
A $750 Grayson College Fred & Mae Guilloud Memorial Scholarship went to Williams.
Ruiz 4 Kids provided six scholarships at $1,000 each to Davenport, Ford, Light, Reynolds, Russell and Ochoa.
Light and Scott also each received a $500 Clay & Mildred Landers Memorial Scholarship.
Scott received a $1,000 scholarship from Two Way Special Utility District.
Russell and Patterson each received a $1,000 Wayne & Shirley McCorkle Memorial Scholarship.
Monk and Vaughn each received a $1,000 Noel & Jacquita Lewter Memorial Scholarship, while Trevino, Vaughn and Morgan each received a $1,000 Roger McDaniel Memorial Scholarship from McDaniel Heat & Air.
Sandra Steele Memorial Nursing Scholarships, each at $1,000, went to Hardwick and Carter, while Davenport received a $1,000 scholarship from Grayson Collin Electric Co-Op.
A $2,000 Gwen Grady Memorial Scholarship was given to Denning, a $300 Diane Hetsel Nursing Scholarship was given to Ford and the Whitesboro Masonic Lodge gifted $1,000 each to Ford and Denning.
Keep Collinsville Beautiful gifted Light with a total of $1,000 in scholarships and Scott a $1,500 Tommy Vannoy Memorial Scholarship.
Independent Financial/SouthState Bank Scholarships (each $250) went to Light, Russell, Vannoy and Patterson.
The Cole McMillan Memorial Scholarship ($4,000) went to Nick Cox. Dennards Donny Ferguson Memorial Scholarships of $500 each went to Patterson, Davenport and Light.
CAYSA scholarships of $500 went to Trevino and Williams, and $250 went to Russell, Carter and Vannoy.
Collinsville United Methodist Church provided $1,000 to Denning, and the Collinsville Area Chamber of Commerce awarded $500 each to Carter, Scott, Denning, Jones and Trevino. The Chamber presented the Roger McDaniel Memorial Scholarship to Monk ($500).
The $1,000 Norman & Rebecca Denton Memorial Scholarship went to Light; the Shannon Flanery Heart of Service Awards ($450 each) went to Jones, Vannoy and Trevino. Geotex Women in STEM provided Davenport with $500 and the William Jesse Godwin Foundation provided Davenport and Trevino with $2,500 each.
The $7,000 Lost Pirates Scholarship went to Light, and CISD Staff Scholarships ($500 each) were awarded to Carter, Davenport, Hardwick, Light, Monk, Morgan, Patterson, Russell and Trevino.
The FFA/FCCLA Booster Club presented $500 scholarships to Carter, Robinson, Trevino and Patterson. The CHS Student Council Scholarship went to Carter ($300) and the Pirates Athletic Booster Club Scholarships ($500 each) went to Scott and Trevino.
The Collinsville Band Booster Scholarship was awarded to Russell and Carter at $500 each. The $250 CHS National Honor Society Scholarship was awarded to Carter. The CHS Class of 1997 provided $425 each to Carter, Monk, Scott and Trevino.
The PirateMountain.com “Voice of the Collinsville Pirates” Scholarship went to Carter, Morgan and Trevino ($250 each) while the Pirates Quarterback Club presented Trevino and Scott with $1,000 each.
The Leroy Koerner Memorial Scholarship of $500 went to Monk; 4U Credit Union Scholarship of $500 went to Scott; the Bettie Dorothy Gonzalez Remembrance (BDG Foundation of Hope) $5,000 scholarship went to Ford; and the Texoma Excellence in Fine Arts Texoma Chevy Dealers went to Davenport and Russell ($1,000 each).
Beta provided Russell with $1,000; Pentex Energy awarded $2,500 each to Russell, Jones and Williams; the Max Moore Memorial Scholarship awarded $2,000 to Russell; and the Good Citizen Award Scholarship from MJR Chapter went to Davenport ($1,000).
The Collinsville Education Foundation provided 17 scholarships this year (each at $1,550) to graduating high school seniors: Carter, Denning, Ford, Hardwick, Jones, Monk, Morgan, Paterson, Rangel, Trinity Reynolds, Robinson, Scott, Trevino, Vannoy, Vaughn, Williams and Ochoa.
