Gordonville Masonic Lodge #536 recently awarded three scholarships to S&S Consolidated graduating seniors.
Karlie Baggs and Emma Clater were each awarded $1,250 Gordonville Masonic Lodge Scholarships while Lily Nunn was awarded the $1,500 Keith Hughes Memorial Scholarship.
This year Texas Masonic Lodges will provide over 2,000 Texas students a total of $1,700,000 in scholarships. Masons have supported public education in Texas since Mirabeau B. Lamar,
President of the Republic of Texas, set aside public lands to finance public education.
Lamar was a member of Harmony Lodge No. 6 at Galveston. Since those early beginnings, Texas Masons have continued to support public education. There are currently 774 Lodges in Texas and the vast majority provide local scholarships annually.
