Lady Cats head back to STATE
The Whitesboro Bearcat softball team is back in the State Tournament for the second year in a row after taking Gunter to three games in the regional final over the weekend at Prosper. 
They punched their ticket with a 3-1 win in game three.

Whitesboro moved to 24-10 on the year and will open the State semifinal against Iowa Park Wednesday at Graham. Results were not available as of press time. Games 2 and 3 are at noon on Saturday.

Avery Howerton threw a four-hitter in game three against Gunter. She had six strikeouts and six walks. She also doubled, walked, drove in a run and scored.

Reagan Downs went 2-for-3 and scored. Bradi Gallaway walked, was hit by a pitch and scored once. Breighlin Rupert walked to force in a run. Cam Ortiz drove in a run.

Whitesboro outscored Gunter 8-2 in the last two games following a 6-5 loss in game one. 

Gallaway went 2-for-2 with two home runs in that affair. She also walked twice and drove in three.

Tylar Olsen went 2-for-3 and drove in a run.

Downs, Ortiz and Jenna Cole each singled and scored once. Rupert drove in a run. Howerton allowed three earned runs on five hits with eight strikeouts and a walk in game one.

Ram softball on to STATE
The S&S Ram softball team punched their ticket to the State Tournament last week for the first time since 2009 with a sweep of Boyd at Denton to win the Regional Championship. 
They sealed the deal with a 12-2 in game two.

Hayden Mowrey threw a five-hitter with 11 strikeouts and six walks. She also hit a grand slam, walked three times, and scored twice.

Lana Walters went 3-for-4 with a triple, walked, drove in two and scored four runs. Hayden Kight singled, walked and drove in two. Brooklyn Sterling singled and drove in two. Izzie Talamantes went 2-for-3, walked and scored once. Bri Fowler walked three times and scored three times. Tynslie Adcock singled, walked, drove in a run and scored once. Hannah Foster walked twice and scored once. 

The win took S&S to 26-1 on the year.

They opened the State semifinals against Coahoma 6 p.m. tonight in Holliday. 

Game two is set for noon tomorrow. If needed, game three will follow at 2:30 p.m. Game two was much less stressful than game one, the day before, that ended in a 2-1 Ram victory. 

In game one, Mowrey threw a one-hitter with seven strikeouts and two walks. She also walked, was hit by a pitch and drove in a run. Lana Walters walked twice and scored twice. Nunn squeezed home the winning run. Brooklyn Sterling walked twice.

C’ville tops Crawford 
The Collinsville Pirates baseball team advanced to the regional final for a third straight year. They punched their ticket with a 6-4 win in game two and advanced to 27-4 on the year. 
They have won 21 of their last 22 games and will face the Muenster Hornets to earn a trip to the State Tournament for the third year in a row. 

They opened against Muenster Thursday at Denton Braswell. Results were not available as of press time. 

Game two was set to follow game one. 

If needed, game three will be 2 p.m. Saturday— again, at Braswell. 

In game one against Crawford, Peyton Davidson went 2-for-2 with a double, walked, drove in two and scored once. 

Caysen Schafer allowed two runs on five hits with four strikeouts and a walk in five innings. He also doubled and scored.

Cooper McMillan singled and scored once. Jaxon Jenkins walked twice and scored twice.

Bearcat baseball ends run
The Whitesboro Bearcat baseball season has come to an end. 

After dramatic sweeps in the first two rounds, the Bearcats came up short, in two games, to Texarkana Liberty-Eylau who won the 4A State Championship last  year before moving down to 3A. 

Game two ended with an 8-2 loss in Paris. 

Camden Stephens went 3-for-3 with a double and drove in a run.

Troy Randall doubled and walked.

Brayden Bomar walked and scored once. 

Dax Martin singled and drove in a run.

Rhet Rudzinski doubled.

Tracy Brees allowed three earned runs on two hits with five strikeouts and four walks in five and a third innings.

Liberty-Eylau moved 32-4 on the year and will face Gunter in the regional final.

The Bearcats fell behind with a 11-1 loss in  game one. 

In that bout, Rudzinski singled, walked, scored and stole two bases.

Brees and Stephens each walked.
