NEW WHITESBORO RESIDENTS ANTIQUE COLLECTORS
MSgt. and Mrs. Joe L. Wiggins, who have moved to Whitesboro only recently and reside at 504 E. Main, are the owners of a valuable collection of antiques. Mr. and Mrs. Wiggins started collecting in 1959 while Sergeant Wiggins was stationed in England. Since that time they have collected 52 pieces, and their most interesting pieces of work are some of the originals of Wedgwood.
Wedgwood had heard sometime in the middle of the 18th century that the Indians in America were using clay to make things. He ordered one ton of clay from America and went to work. However, he didn’t enjoy working with clay, so he only made a few pieces.
Mrs. Wiggins has obtained several of his pieces of work and has won top awards at some antique shows in England.
