On Tuesday, Collinsville High School juniors and seniors got a wake-up call with a Shattered Dreams dramatization.
In a lifelike simulation of an accident scene, an emergency response consisting of student actors and first responders portrayed the life-altering events that take place after an alcohol-related car crash.
The enacted scene picked up after two vehicles had presumably collided due to an impaired driver, leaving two passengers dead and two others injured.
From the initial emergency call by Dispatch to the arrival of first responders, extraction from a vehicle and the removal of victims by Careflight helicopter, ambulance and hearse, students saw the consequences and far-reaching impact of driving under the influence.
The goal of the presentation is to reduce underage drinking and impaired driving among teens.
This Shattered Dreams dramatization was presented by Collinsville Independent School District in partnership with Collinsville Fire and Police Departments; Whitesboro Fire Department and Dispatch Center; Grayson County Sheriff’s Department; Department of Public Safety; and Careflight/Air Ambulance.
