The Whitesboro Lady Cats secured the title of Area Champs at their May 2 game.

Bearcats anglers take third at regionals
Whitesboro placed third at the Texas High School Bass Association North/West/Metro Regional held on Lake Lewisville late last month.
The Bearcats totaled 13 fish weighing 39.27 pounds.
The cutoff for individuals or pairings to qualify for the state championship, which will be May 31-June 1 on Lake Conroe, was 67th place and a total weight of 6.65 pounds.
Whitesboro was led by Adisyn Russell and Canyon Heffley’s total of 15.99 pounds from five fish.
Clayton St. John and Cason Vessels were 19th with five fish totaling 12.59 pounds while Jase West was 28th with three fish checking in at 10.69 pounds.
Cash Metdker and Marques Ruiz were 52nd with 7.56 pounds from two fish while Hayden Henry and Mason Hendry had two fish weighing 5.1 pounds.

Bulldogs win State track title
The Tioga Bulldog track team came come from Austin Saturday night the 2A State Champions. 
They combined for three gold medals—two on relays.
The earned 70 points in five and landed the program’s first team title with a victory in the 1,600.
The Bulldogs held a 50-46 lead going into the last event and Quesyn Arrington, Jake David, Greeley McAden and Justin Arrington won gold with a time of 3:18.57 to lock down the overall crown. 
The 800 relay of Justin Arrington, Austin Norwood, Quesyn Arrington and McAden won with a 2A state record time of 1:27.63.
Sam Mott won gold in the 100 on a photo finish over Ropesville’s Kolter Dockery. 
Both clocked times of 10.70 seconds but the replay had Mott at 10.696 seconds and Dockery at an even 10.700 seconds.
Tioga’s 400 relay of McAden, David, Quesyn Arrington and Norwood earned silver with a time of 41.94 seconds. 
Norwood also finished fifth in the 200 with a time of 21.82 seconds. 
From just seven miles up the road, Collinsville’s Russell Carney finished fourth in the shot put at 50 feet, nine and a half inches. 
Carney also was sixth in the discus with a throw of 149 feet, nine inches. 
On the girls side, Tioga’s Kyndall Whitley qualified for the 100 and 200 but did not race due to an injury suffered during the first round of the softball playoffs.

Lady Cats take Area trophy
The Whitesboro Lady Cat softball team swept their way in the third round with series wins over Emory Rains in Farmersville.
They punched their ticket with a 17-6 win in game two. 
Cam Ortiz went 4-for-5 with two doubles, three RBIs and scored twice.
Bradi Gallaway hit a grand slam, walked twice and scored twice. 
Avery Howerton did not allow an earned run on three hits with seven strikeouts and no walks 
She also had a home run, walked twice, drove in two and scored three runs.
Emma Parish went 2-for-5 with two RBIs and scored twice.
Tylar Olsen singled, walked twice, drove in two and scored twice.
Reagan Downs tripled and scored twice.
Jenna Cole singled, walked, drove in a run and scored once. 
Breighlin Rupert singled, drove in two and scored twice.
Makayla Wolf walked three times and scored once.
The win took Whitesboro to 20-9 on the year.
Game one was decided by more narrow margins the night before with a 6-4 win. 
Gallaway went 2-for-4 with a home run and scored twice.
Cole went 2-for-3, drove in a run and scored once. 
Howerton singled, walked, drove in a run and scored once.
Olsen doubled, walked and scored once.
Parish walked twice and drove in a run.
Ortiz drove in a run.
The Lady Cats opened the Regional semi-final round of the playoffs Thursday against Mineola at Rockwall-Heath High School. Results were not available as of press time.
Game two is 6 p.m. tonight. If needed game three will be at 1 p.m. tomorrow.

Bearcat baseball on to round two 
The Whitesboro Bearcat baseball team beat Dallas Madison, 16-0, in three innings last week to sweep a Class 3A Division I Region II bi-district series.
Dax Martin and Brayden Bomar combined on a no-hitter with six strikeouts and a walk.
Bomar went 2-for-2 with a triple, walked, drove in two and scored three runs.
Martin also went 2-for-2 and drove in a run.
Jacob Knight went 2-for-2 with a double, two RBIs and scored twice.
Tracy Brees went 2-for-2 with three RBIs and scored once.
Troy Randall singled, drove in a run and scored twice.
Andrew Quick walked and scored twice.
The win took Whitesboro to 13-12 on the season. 
The Bearcats started the series with a 21-0 victory in two innings in game one. 
Quick went 3-for-3 with a home run, two doubles, seven RBIs and scored three times.
Knight went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and scored three times.
Rhet Rudzinski went 2-for-2 with a double and a triple, walked, drove in two and scored twice.
Korbin Ross went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBIs and scored twice.
Camden Stephens tripled, drove in three and scored once. 
Brees doubled, walked, drove in two, scored twice.
He also struck out all three batters he faced.
Martin tripled, walked, drove in a run and scored twice.
The Bearcats opened the Area round of the playoffs Thursday against Pottsboro at Sanger. Results were not available as of press time.
Game two is set for 5 p.m. tonight at Sanger.
If needed, game three will be noon Saturday.  

Pirates pound Celeste, on to round two
The defending State Champion Collinsville Pirate baseball team sailed by Celeste last week in round one of the post season with a 21-0 final in game two at Anna.
Peyton Davidson went 3-for-4 with five RBIs. 
Jaxon Spivey tripled, walked twice, drove in three and scored three times.
Paxton Davidson doubled, walked twice, drove in three and scored three runs.
Noe Cantu walked three times, drove in two and scored twice.
Cash Morgan walked three times, drove in a run and scored.
Jaxon Jenkins walked three times and scored three runs.
Cooper McMillan and Caysen Schafer each walked, drove in a run and scored twice. 
The win took Collinsville to 23-3 on the year. 
Garrett Trevino, Schafer and Paxton Davidson combined on a two-hitter with 12 strikeouts and two walks.
The series sweep came after a dominant 18-5 win the night before. 
In game one, Morgan went 2-for-5 with four RBIs and scored once. 
Trevino went 2-for-4 with two triples, two RBIs and scored twice.
Brandon Cantu went 3-for-3 with a double, drove in a run and scored three times.
Jenkins allowed two earned runs on one hit with eight strikeouts and four walks.
He also went was 3-for-4 with a double, walked, drove in two and scored twice.
Paxton Davidson went 2-for-3 with a double, walked, drove in two and scored three runs.
Peyton Davidson went 2-for-3, walked, drove in a run.
Caysen Schafer tripled, drove in two and scored.
Spivey singled, drove in two and scored once.
The Pirates opened round two last night against Windthorst at Eagle Mountain High School. 
Games 2 and 3 are set for 5 p.m. Friday.

Lady Rams yet to be beat
The S&S Lady Rams swept Paradise last week in Denton to punch their ticket to the third round of the UIL State Softball playoffs. 
The deciding win came with a 10-0 game two win. 
Hayden Mowrey threw a two-hitter with six strikeouts and two walks in game two. 
She also went 2-for-2 with a double and a home run, walked, drove in two runs and scored three times. 
Lily Nunn went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.
Bri Fowler tripled, drove in three and scored once. 
Brooklyn Sterling singled, walked twice and scored twice.
Julia Walbom walked, drove in a run and scored once.
Lana Walters, Hayden Kight and Izzie Talamantes all singled and scored.
The win took S&S to 22-0 on the year.
Game one was just as decisive the night before with an 8-1 S&S win.  
Mowrey threw a one-hitter, allowing an unearned run with 10 strikeouts and two walks in game one. 
She also singled, walked twice and scored once. 
Hannah Foster went 2-for-3 and scored twice.
Brooklyn Sterling went 2-for-4 with a double, drove in a run and scored twice.
Nunn doubled, walked and drove in two.
Fowler singled and scored.
Walters walked and scored twice.
Kight doubled for S&S. 
The Lady Rams will face Hooks in a Region semifinal series at Paris Chisum. Game 1 was Thursday. Results were not available as of press time.
Game 2 is at 6 p.m. on tonight.
Game 3, if necessary, is at 11 a.m. on Saturday this far in the bracket.

Lady Bulldogs end run
The Tioga Lady Bulldog softball team ended their playoff run last week after being swept by Archer City at Bowie. 
Game two ended the run with a 12-8 final. 
Kenzee Powers went 3-for-3 with two triples, walked, drove in three and scored twice.
Abbie Benke went 3-for-4 with three RBIs.
Kennedy Slay tripled, walked and scored three times.
Skilar Hodge drove in a run and scored once.
Aly Salinas singled and walked.
Bella Dennis walked and scored once.
Game one ended with a 12-11 walk-off loss in eight innings. 
Powers went 3-for-4 in game one, walked and drove in four runs. 
Addison Snuggs went 2-for-3, walked and scored three times.
Dennis hit a home run, walked, drove in two and scored twice.
Slay doubled, walked three times, drove in three and scored three runs.
Kaylee Evans singled, walked and scored once.
Hodge walked, drove in a run and scored twice.
