HILL FAMILY REUNITES FOR THE FIRST TIME IN OVER 40 YEARS
Kathryn Sue Hill is still excited about a reunion she and five of her six siblings and her 95-year-old grandmother, Myrtle Harper, a Collinsville Care Center resident, enjoyed at Kathy’s home just outside of Collinsville.

“Like in Genesis 50 in the Bible, Joseph was sold and those years away from his family members were full of heartache and hardships. All of us had hard times, but we survived, and on April 9, 2005, were back together again, except for one brother, Larry Eugene Adams, who lives in Prentice, Wisconsin,” said Kathy of the reunion.

The siblings haven’t all been together since July of 1960, when four of them were given up for adoption when their parents divorced.

Glenda, four years old, and Larry, five, were adopted by Bob and Dessa Adams of Anna; Donna, nine, and Kathy, 11, were adopted by Helen and W.E. Badgett of Whitewright; Ronnie, 10, was with his father in Perryton, TX; and Helen, two years old, stayed with her grandparents, Helen and John Harper, in Van Alstyne.

The Harpers had five children, 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 24 great-great-grandchildren.

DEVELOPER PLANS TO BUILD SONIC DRIVE-IN
Sonic Drive-In, renowned for foot-long chili-cheese dogs, cherry limeade and roller-skating car hops, will soon be making the move to Whitesboro.

Charles Ballou, who owns the franchise, signed paperwork with Leroy Covington of Brown Real Estate on Monday after receiving approval from corporate headquarters.

The restaurant will be constructed on a 1.1 acre of land located on Highway 377, just north of Northtown Foods.

The increasing number of local residents, coupled with traffic  patterns funneling into major highways was a major drawing card for expansion of the restaurant chain.
