Family Promise of Grayson County (FPGC) recently received a $20,000 grant from Clayton, a home builder dedicated to attainable housing, sustainable practices and creating a world-class experience for customers and team members. This grant ensures that families with minor children in Grayson County receive the support they need to stay safely housed.
The grant is a portion of the $1.5 million dollars Clayton is dispersing to the Family Promise national network. The funds are a result of the recently announced partnership extension between Family Promise and Clayton. A Future Begins at Home, the initiative born from this collaboration, is dedicated to supporting families experiencing homelessness by helping them stay in their homes and swiftly regain stability. Since its inception in 2019, A Future Begins at Home has catalyzed millions in additional funding resulting in more than 30,000 families served.
“We are grateful to receive this grant, as it will enable us to help many more families in our community,” said FPGC Executive Director Leigh Walker.
In addition to Clayton’s generous financial support, they have donated 18 homes to the Family Promise national network since 2019, including one to Family Promise of Grayson County in December 2022. These homes are used primarily as transitional housing for families working with Family Promise, allowing families to stay together while receiving case management and support services as they work toward securing permanent housing.
Founded in Sherman, Texas in 2016, Family Promise is the leading nonprofit addressing the crisis of family homelessness in Grayson County.
From prevention services to emergency shelter and housing to post-program stabilization, Family Promise ensures families develop vital skills, have access to critical resources, and receive ongoing support to achieve lasting independence.
In 2024, 564 families with children received supportive services through Family Promise of Grayson County. To learn more about Family Promise, visit familypromisegrayson.org.
